Fra H.C. Andersen var 2 til 14 år, boede han i et lille hus i Munkemøllestræde. I dag er barndomshjemmet omdannet til museum med en poetisk have, fyldt med planter fra de mange eventyr. Det var et trangt og fattigt hjem, men digteren huskede det med nostalgisk glæde. Det var nemlig også et hjem fyldt med kærlighed, fantasi og fortællinger.
