Der Botanische Garten Gera entstand 1897 aus der bürgerlichen Stiftung des Textilunternehmers Walther Ferber und ist bis heute durch die Besonderheit zweier dort entspringender Quellen geprägt. Das nur ¾ Hektar große Grundstück bietet Raum für einen alten Baumbestand, ein gewundenes Wegesystem und vor allem für das 1864 erbaute spätklassizistische Gartenhaus mit Turm. Die Gartenanlage fasst als kleinräumiges Mosaik die Pflanzenwelt Ostthüringens zusammen.
