Το κτήριο που στεγάζεται το Παράρτημα Θεσσαλονίκης βρίσκεται στον ευρύτερο χώρο του στρατοπέδου του Πεδίου του Άρεως, όπου σήμερα εδρεύει το Στρατηγείο του Γ’ Σώματος Στρατού. Το κτήριο σχεδιάστηκε από τον Ιταλό αρχιτέκτονα Βιταλιάνο Ποζέλι (1838-1918) στις αρχές του 20ού αιώνα και αρχικά χρησιμοποιήθηκε από τον Οθωμανικό Στρατό. Όταν απελευθερώθηκε η Θεσσαλονίκη το 1912 από τον Ελληνικό Στρατό, περιήλθε στην κυριότητά του και εγκαταστάθηκαν σε αυτό στρατιωτικές μονάδες.
