1988（昭和63）年3月13日の青函連絡船最後の日まで運航していた摩周丸を実際の乗り場であった旧函館第二岸壁に係留・保存して公開しています。 操舵室（船橋）・無線通信室が当時のまま残り見学できるほか、前部グリーン船室を展示室に改装して、実物部品・模型等を展示するとともに、パネル・映像で青函連絡船の歴史やしくみを解説しています。 残念ながら、車両甲板、総括制御室、主機関室には直接入ることはできませんが、展示室からモニターカメラを操作して見ることができます。
