設計は、建築家・保岡勝也が担当しました。保岡は、日本銀行本店や東京駅を設計した辰野金吾に師事し、現在の三菱地所で技師長を務めた人物です。
川越には他にも旧第八十五銀行（埼玉りそな銀行川越支店）や旧山吉デパートなど保岡建築が残っています。
