カヤバ珈琲の建物は大正５年築、出桁造りの町家です。
1938年（昭和13年）この建物で榧場伊之助様がカヤバ珈琲を創業され、奥様のキミ様、養女幸子様が70年近く店を切り盛りしてこられました。
昭和の味と風情そのままの喫茶店は谷中のシンボルとして、憩いの場、芸術談義の場として、長年親しまれてきましたが、平成18年秋、幸子様ご逝去の後、残念ながら店を閉められました。
その後有志が集い、キミ様と店の復活を目指しました。
平成19年秋、今度はキミ様ご逝去の悲しみの中、店の再開を望むご親族や町の方と相談し、平成20年秋、NPO法人たいとう歴史都市研究会とSCAI THE BATHH...
