みなさん、対馬丸沈没事件をご存知でしょうか。 1944年8月22日、対馬丸という船に乗って沖縄戦から逃れるために1661名が九州を目指していました。しかし、航路の途中でアメリカ軍の潜水艦ボーフィン号に攻撃され1484名が亡くなりました。 対馬丸記念館では、この事件を後世に伝え平和について考えてもらい、実感してもらうための施設です。 対馬丸沈没事件は犠牲者の半分が小中学生です。そのため、特に子供たちには平和だけでなく自身の将来や夢についても考えてもらいたい。
