Bij het Gedempte Zuiderdiep 36 is al ontzettend lang bedrijvigheid. Vóór de oorlog heeft het pand ooit dienst gedaan als fruit- en groentewinkel. De naam is destijds waarschijnlijk 'De Hollandsche Groentewinkel' geweest. Dit feit is nog duidelijk zichtbaar aan de buitenkant van ons restaurant. De gevel is namelijk versierd met een Jugendstil tegeltableau waarop nog vele fruit- en groentesoorten afgebeeld staan. Deze gevel geniet hierdoor ook een monumentale status.
