Deze bibliotheek in de Korenbeurs is ontworpen door architect hanrath uit Rotterdam. Lezen, leren, informeren, ontmoeting en debat zijn de taken die zijn vastgesteld in de Nieuwe Bibliotheekwet. Bij de bibliotheken in de Schiedamse basisscholen staat het leren centraal.
