Zaterdag 6 juni 2015 opende de Bibliotheek voor het eerst haar deuren in de Korenbeurs. Sindsdien is de eerste groene bibliotheek van Nederland zeven dagen per week geopend aan de Lange Haven 145 in Schiedam. Deze bibliotheek in de Korenbeurs is ontworpen door architect hanrath uit Rotterdam. Lezen, leren, informeren, ontmoeting en debat zijn de taken die zijn vastgesteld in de Nieuwe Bibliotheekwet. Bij de bibliotheken in de Schiedamse basisscholen staat het leren centraal.
