In het Volksbuurtmuseum beleef je hoe het was om in de armoedige omstandigheden van rond 1920 te leven. De volksbuurt was vroeger een buurt waar ‘het gewone volk’ woonde, vaak in kleine, in slechte staat verkerende woningen. Elke stad had zo zijn volksbuurten. Utrecht had Wijk C, dat was 100 jaar geleden de dichtstbevolkte wijk van Utrecht. In de wijk woonden grote gezinnen in kleine krotwoningen.

Ontmoet elkaar natuurlijk bij Eilandsteede. De groene ontmoetingsplek van stichting Utrecht Natuurlijk in zuidwest Utrecht in Park Transwijk. Stap samen het weiland in en kom in contact met de boerderijdieren van Eilandsteede. Bekijk de volières met kippen en andere vogels, kom picknicken of een drankje drinken op het groene terras, kom spelen in de speeltuin of meehelpen op de tuin. Er is voor jong en oud van alles te beleven en te doen.
