潭子分館於民國75年籌建，77年11月12日落成啟用。因位於臺三線與縱貫鐵路交通樞紐，且緊鄰潭子國民小學及加工出口區，一向為當地重要閱讀書庫與文化交流場所，深受民眾喜愛。民國105年3月1日因應「臺中市立圖書館」成立，更名為「臺中市立圖書館潭子分館」。因應時代變遷，閱讀人口增加，館內空間不敷使用，市府斥資1275萬工程經費重新規劃設計，107年11月13日完成空間改造，並打造單車休憩站，提供舒適座椅、打氣筒、簡易維修包等設備，供民眾使用，積極推廣閱讀活動、加深在地連結與圖書服務。
館藏設有期刊閱報區、樂齡區、兒童閱讀區、特色館藏區及新書展示區、臺中學區，並增設親子洗手間及哺乳室，三樓則增設討論室，特別規劃長桌椅供學生共讀學習，環繞閱讀區的大片玻璃窗設計更將鄰近的潭子國小美麗校園引入圖書館，綠意伴讀，更顯輕鬆悠閒。
潭子分館緊鄰全臺知名的潭雅神自行車道，特別以「單車行旅」為典藏特色，收集單車樂活、休閒旅遊等相關書籍，方便民眾取書借閱，館內定期舉辦說故事、單車旅行講座等活動，館外設有ibike站點，藉由跨域連結展現閱讀的各種可能性，不僅為市民朋友生活資訊的補給站，更是疲憊心靈得以放鬆...

臺中市立圖書館太平分館 (Library)

太平分館於民國69年5月設立，70年3月正式開館使用，舊址原為太平民眾服務站。民國78年人口激增、館室不敷使用，遂另於長億里臺中小鎮社區興建新館，由公所提供土地，太平獅子會、青商會及扶輪社等三社團協助出資興建。館舍二樓提供社團永久使用、一樓與地下室則為圖書館空間。
太平分館目前藏書近八萬餘冊，設有流通服務台、新書展示櫃、兒童閱覽室、哺乳室、0-5歲圖書區、閱讀認證圖書、特色館藏(兒童文學)、資訊檢索、多元文化圖書、報紙期刊閱覽區、開架閱覽區、樂齡圖書、自修室、筆電優先使用座位等。館藏特色區以「兒童文學」為主題，收錄約八千六百餘冊兒童文學書籍，透過生動有趣的故事書吸引孩童的閱讀興趣，擴展視野、培養孩童閱讀習慣。
太平分館每週六上午舉辦中文說故事活動，每週二、五提供手機電腦入門免費諮詢服務，並不定期辦理各項閱讀推廣活動，為社區民眾提供豐富學習資源。
