The Tenney lock raises and lowers boats to allow passage between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona via the Yahara River. The dam located adjacent to the lock maintains an approximate 5' of water level difference between the lakes.
A permit is required to use the lock. They are available online or at a kiosk located on the Yahara River dock. Credit/debit cards only. No cash sales.
Public restrooms are only available during the regular opening hours of the lock.
