Randy Sprecher established the first craft brewery in Milwaukee, WI since Prohibition. Around 1972, Randy applied to special coursework in fermentation science at UC-Davis. Randy went on to create his own brewery, Sprecher Brewing Co., which included a hand-built gas-fired brew kettle. Our Sprecher soda is still made by fire-brewing, with local Wisconsin ingredients like honey direct from the combs.

In 1987 we redeveloped the Tinicum Flats building at 1101 N Water St into Milwaukee’s first brewpub. Now in 2022 we are opening back up with a re-envisioned concept named, the Brewery.
