The 16,000 sq.ft. Village Square Branch opened on April 16, 2016. The library is LEED Certified and features a Children's Area, Teen Room, Quiet Study Room, two group meeting rooms, and an Internet Cafe. In addition, this is the only SJPL branch offering Open+ which provides self service access to the Library on select days. The library serves the residents of Council District 8 and sits in a mixed use residential/ commercial area off Ruby Ave.

The Dr. Roberto Cruz - Alum Rock Branch Library opened July 9, 2005. It includes study rooms, a technology center, Internet Café, a large community room, a Wee Play area and a Family Learning Center that offers special collections and programming relating to ESL, citizenship preparation, family literacy and lifelong learning. The library offers many family-oriented services and programs, large media collections and special language materials. The facility has many workstations for public use.
