Boca Chica was named by my grandfather, Guillermo, after a small town on the Gulf of Mexico where he spent many memorable times. “Boca Chica”, translated, means “little mouth of the river”.

Who is Mickey? . . . David “Mickey” Crimmins and John “Bert” Mattson were the
founders of Mickey’s Diner. Mickey’s Diner was built in New Jersey by the Jerry O’Mahoney
Co., in 1937. The Diner was transported by flatbed car to its 9th and St. Peter Street location,
where it has operated continuously, 24 hours a day, for over 70 years. Mickey’s was one of
the first diners to be built in Art Deco. Previous diners had been all white, whereas Mickey’s
boasts a bright red and cream streamline design.
