Clifton Suspension Bridge was designed by the famous engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel. When the project began, the bridge was to be the highest and longest in the world - but the works faced many problems and delays and it took 33 years for the bridge to be completed. Today, you can walk across the bridge free of charge to enjoy the amazing achievement of the Victorian engineers, along with magnificent views of the Avon Gorge. Vehicle crossings are charged at £1 each way. A Museum at BS8 3PA is open daily from 10am-5pm. Entry is free and an exhibition tells the story of the design, construction and maintenance of the bridge. Book a historic guided tour or venture inside the bridge with an underground experience.
