Paisley Abbey is a parish church of the Church of Scotland, and is a working church serving the community. Founded in 1163 as Cluniac Monastery, the Abbey retains its medieval nave with transepts, fine wood carvings and beautiful 19th and 20th century stained glass windows. The Abbey has been the focal point and host for a number of local and national events. The Abbey also has and extensive gift shop with a range of items produced by local artists as well as selection of heritage goods and books. There is a cosy café selling hot and cold drinks, biscuits and cakes. Guided tours of the Abbey can be booked, and we can provided printed information in a number of languages. We also have some rooms available for small meetings.
