Restaurante de cocina catalana de estilo art nouveau, que se inauguró en 1897 y fue núcleo del movimiento modernista. Els 4 Gats se convirtió en un punto de reunión del talento cultural y centro ideológico de la vanguardia artística barcelonesa. Solían frecuentarlo Gaudí, Isidre Nonell, Ricard Canals, Adolf Mas, Manolo Hugué, Isaac Albériz, Enric Granados, Lluís Millet o Ricard Opisso entre otros. A estas tertulias también asistía Pablo Picasso, quien el 1899 hizo su primera exposición individual de pintura y también creó la imagen de la carta.
