The ORHC is a permanent museum located at the intersection of Portland's still-vibrant rail culture. Over 60 years ago, conservations began collecting decommissioned steam engines and other rail heritage artifacts representative of Portland's unique position as a national rail hub. collection includes the SP 4449, the SP&S 700, and the OR&N 197. Visitors and railroad romantics come from all over the world to see our engines and rail house, including a variety of vintage passenger cars, diesel locomotives, and other rolling stock. Our latest edition, a fully functioning turntable, moved from the Brooklyn Yard, will be installed and functioning soon. Our hands-on exhibits are free to the public and run by dedicated volunteers.
