The Virginia Discovery Museum is located at 524 E Main Street on the east end of Charlottesville's downtown pedestrian mall. Parking is available at the Market Street Garage (550 E Market Street) and Water Street Garage (200 E Water Street). Both garages provide the first hour of parking free, and the Museum validates for a second hour of free parking. VDM is a small, nonprofit hands-on children's museum for families with newborns to children age 8 and welcomes more than 70,000 visitors each year. For more than 40 years, VDM has facilitated exploratory and imaginative play and provided enrichment opportunities in literacy, science, math, and the arts through interactive exhibits; sensory, motor, and STEAM programs; and community events.
