Venue description

Housed in the historic 1889 Cadwell Building, the Kittitas County Historical Museum features many exhibits for the public to enjoy, reflecting the diverse history, heritage, and culture of Kittitas County from the distant past to the modern day. Exhibit highlights include Indigenous basketry and bead work; local businesses; stories of those who have moved into the area; military service; irrigation and agriculture; mining, logging, and railroading; geological specimens (including the Ellensburg Blue Agate!); and much more. The Kittitas County Historical Society was founded in September 1961, and opened its first museum in May 1962 before purchasing the Cadwell Building in 1974. The Museum opened on June 1, 1975.
