Venue description

To mark the 75th anniversary of the inaugural meeting of the UN General Assembly held in Methodist Central Hall Westminster (10 January 1946), this lawn has been named United Nations Green. London has many landmarks associated with conquest but none associated with the search for peace. Through the naming of United Nations Green, London joins other cities which boast places linked by name to the United Nations. These include New York, Paris, Berlin, San Francisco, Mexico City, Manila, Buenos Aires, Casablanca, Liege, Ans, Dijon, Doha, Tunis, Nairobi, Lusaka and Bauru.
