江戸時代の熊本藩主・細川家の江戸下屋敷跡の一角にあり、十六代当主・護立氏が1950年に設立した美術館。国宝8点、重要文化財32点を含む、細川家伝来の歴史資料や美術工芸品約94,000点を収蔵。年4回、様々なテーマで展覧会を開催し、作品を公開しています。 This Museum is located at the place where a townhouse of the Kumamoto domain lord Hosokawa family was formally built in the Edo era. It is founded by the 16th lord Moritatsu in 1950. It contains about 94,000 historical documents and arts and crafts, including eight national treasure and 32 important cultural properties, originated from the Hosokawa family. Exhibitions with various themes are held four times a year to display artworks.
