長居公園の東南の一角にあるおよそ24.2haを占める長居植物園。 春はサクラ・チューリップ・ボタン・シャクヤク・バラ、夏はアジサイ・ハナショウブ・ハス・スイレン・ヒマワリ、秋はハギ・コスモス、冬はサザンカ・ツバキ・ウメなど四季を通じていろいろな花を楽しめます。 また、園内には、生きた化石といわれるメタセコイアや、巨木樹として知られるセコイア（第三紀植物群）、アケボノゾウが生きていたころの明石植物群、1万年～200万年前の大阪の原生林（氷期・ 間氷期植物群）、照葉樹林、二次林など、大阪の樹木を時代別に、その代表種によって再現されています。 植物園入口の「花と緑と自然の情報センター」は花と緑のまちづくり推進のための情報集積と発信機能を持ち、各種普及啓発及び人材育成を行う施設です。
