It’s association to the saint derives from the myth that this cluster of catacombs was once connected with St Paul’s Grotto. Although this remains a myth, recent research shows that the two, originally formed part of a considerably large cemetery just outside of the ancient city of Melite.

The Domvs Romana sheds light on the private life and habits of an ancient Roman aristocrat. The Mdina Dungeons Museum is a vivid and harrowing account of medieval events in Malta. These very underground passageways, chambers and cells were home to some of the darkest moments in a bygone era. This tourist attraction in Mdina is housed underneath the noble Vilhena Palace, the first building on your right as soon as you enter Mdina’s main gate. The incidents described in vivid detail with life-size figures are sometimes beyond belief.
