이 집은, 이준 열사(李儁烈士)가 1907년 7월 14일 순국하신 역사의 현장입니다. 열사께서는 그당시 헤-그에서 개최중인 제2차 만국평화회의에 이상설. 이위종 두분과 함께 한국대표로 이 곳에 오셨습니다. 세분은 그당시 이 집에 머무시면서 만국평화회의에 참석하여 을사늑약의 무효를 세계에 알리고 한국의 국권을 회복하려고 애쓰셨으나, 일본의 방해와 열강의 냉대로 그 뜻을 이루지 못하였습니다. 이에 의분을 못이기신 이준열사께서는 [왜, 대한제국을 제외시키는가]란 호소문을 발표하고, 이 집에서 장렬하 게 순국하여 식민제국주의에 항거하고, 한국민의 기개를 세계에 알렸던 것입니다. 우리는 유럽에 하나밖에 없는 항일 독립운동유적지(獨立運動遺蹟地)인 이 집에 이준열사기념관(Yi Jun Peace Museum. This house is not only to commemorate Museum)을 1995년 8월 5일 개관하였습니다.
