The site may be slow on older computers or smartphones due to the big data set. As alternative you can check-out the smaller Amsterdam data set.
* Demo limits: Search requests 200/month, 80/day, 40/hour.
In this demo dataset you'll see foot traffic data to demonstrate the BestTime.app API.
It might take a while to load when loading a big dataset on a slow computer (e.g. 20 seconds). (The API is much faster. Rendering the heatmap takes most time)
On the left side you see the foot traffic per venue for the selected day.
The map displays the same foot traffic data as a heatmap. The color indicates the foot traffic intensity for the selected hour.
Click on a venue on the left or on the map to get more foot traffic details.
Using the filter panel on the right you can filter the displayed venue foot traffic on foot traffic intensity, day, time, type, location, rating, reviews, and more. NOTE: It only filters current displayed venues. Use the Venue Search or other website tools to add more venues to your account.
Use the top-left search bar to find foot traffic for other venues around the world or different types of venues in the same area (The demo returns limited amount of data, subscribe for more data). Always add a venue type (e.g. 'supermarkets' or venue name (e.g. 'McDonalds') AND a location (Neighborhood, city, state), e.g. 'Los Angeles, CA'. You can also click the 'nearby me' checkbox instead of typing in a location.

All venues that meet the filter criteria. Use the search bar to find a venue within this list. Click on the name to get more information.
The radar functionality is a tool that is build on top of the BestTime internal venue filter API endpoint.
The Radar tool will show all venues on the map that meet the filter requirements. Venues can be filtered on how busy they are, on location, type of venue, day & time range, or a combination. This could be useful to for e.g. find all busy bars, cafes and nightclubs, between 6pm and 11pm in a specific neighborhood. The venues are shown as a circle on map with a color representing how busy each venue is for the corresponding hour of the week using the relative busyness data from 0% (green) to 100% (red).

The timeline on top of the map shows the hours of the day within the normal BestTime day/time window. By default it will show the forecast for the current hour of the week (local time of the map). You can change the hour of the forecast on the timeline, or press play to animate the forecast for given day.
When when turning 'live' mode on BestTime will refresh the live busyness data in the background of the venues that meet the current venue filter (not available in the demo). This could take a while depending on the amount of venues. In general less venues will be shown on the map after turning on the live mode. This is because not all venues are popular enough (drive enough traffic) to determine live data. Additionally Live data can only be determined when a venue is opened.
Using the search field specific venues or a type of venue in the map can be searched. The venue needs to meet the filter criteria on order to find it.
Using the button all venues, that meet the filter criteria, can be displayed in the 'compare venues' tool. filter criteria on order to find it.
Using the button the map can be viewed in fullscreen.
For more information on the filters, checkout the venue filter API endpoint
The map will automatically refresh the data if the filter is set to 'Now' (this is loaded by default). In forecast mode it will load the correct hour of the week every hour, and in live mode the data will be refreshed every 15 minutes.
The filter will only return venues that are forecasted with the given private API key. The filter and map location will be remembered in the URL parameters to make it easier for savind and sharing the URL.
This query endpoint requires the private API key. Although the private API keys is used, this endpoint will be charged with query credits. (Not applicable for the demo)
The endpoint will only return venues that have been forecasted before with the provided api_key_private (non-demo only). The user can manually add each desired venue individually through the BestTime API, or can use an external API service with public business (like Google Maps Places Nearby search, Here.com, Fouresquare Venues, or Factual Places). Using the external service places in a certain area can be discovered and the results (venue name and address) can be fed into the BestTime API.
To prevent manually adding all venues in a specific area (e.g. neighborhood or city) the 'Add Area' tool can be used. Using this tool the user can define a geographical bounding box, select multiple desired types of venues (e.g. supermarkets, gyms, restaurants, etc). Under the hood it uses the Google Maps Nearby API to discover venues in the defined area (you will need a Google Maps API key). This geocoder has currently the biggest database and gives the best results.
