Night by night
Busyness is shown as a percentage of each venue's own busiest hour of the week (100%), not a head count. Averaged over 163 venues, it gives average relative busyness, a measure of how close the typical bar is to its own peak rather than of crowd size.
| Night | Average busyness (% of weekly peak, 6 PM to 4 AM) | Peak hour | Share of venues lively (70%+ of their peak) | Share of venues whose busiest night it is |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | 35% | 7 PM (45%) | 29% | 6% |
| Tuesday | 35% | 9 PM (50%) | 47% | 6% |
| Wednesday | 40% | 9 PM (50%) | 45% | 8% |
| Thursday | 40% | 9 PM (50%) | 48% | 4% |
| Friday | 50% | 10 PM (65%) | 77% | 32% |
| Saturday | 50% | 11 PM (65%) | 77% | 36% |
| Sunday | 40% | 9 PM (50%) | 45% | 9% |

How we measured
These numbers are BestTime forecasts, built from anonymized, aggregated phone location data combined with real-world signals such as weather, events and holidays. Busyness is shown as a percentage of each venue's own busiest hour of the week (100%), so it reflects how busy a place is for itself rather than a count of visitors. Nights run from 6 AM to 5 AM, so a 2 AM drink on Saturday night stays on Saturday. A typical-week forecast cannot see conventions, fight nights, residencies or holiday weekends.
