Night by night
Busyness is shown as a percentage of each venue's own busiest hour of the week (100%), not a head count. So the averages in this table are average relative busyness: how close the typical venue is to its own peak, not how many people are inside.
| Night | Average busyness (% of weekly peak, 6 PM to 4 AM) | Peak hour | Share of venues lively (70%+ of their peak) | Share of venues whose busiest night it is |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | 20% | 9 PM (35%) | 22% | 2% |
| Tuesday | 25% | 9 PM (40%) | 29% | 3% |
| Wednesday | 30% | 9 PM (45%) | 34% | 5% |
| Thursday | 30% | 10 PM (50%) | 35% | 5% |
| Friday | 45% | 11 PM (70%) | 78% | 40% |
| Saturday | 45% | 11 PM (70%) | 85% | 42% |
| Sunday | 20% | 9 PM (35%) | 30% | 3% |
The week splits in two. Monday to Thursday never pass 50% at any hour, and at most 35% of venues get lively. Friday and Saturday jump to 45% on average. 40% of venues have their busiest night on Friday and 42% on Saturday.
The peak also moves later as the week goes on: 9 PM early in the week, 10 PM on Thursday, 11 PM at the weekend. At the weekend the average venue sits at 70% from 10 PM to 11 PM, then drops fast. On Saturday it goes to 50% at midnight, 35% at 1 AM and 15% at 2 AM. That is the bar crowd moving on, and it is when the clubs below reach their peak.

How we measured
These numbers are BestTime forecasts, built from anonymized, aggregated phone location data combined with real-world signals such as weather, events and holidays. Busyness is shown as a percentage of each venue's own busiest hour of the week (100%), which is not the same as capacity or a head count. Our nights run from 6 AM to 5 AM, so a 2 AM club peak on Friday night falls on Saturday morning by the calendar. Festivals, holidays and one-off events are outside a typical-week forecast.
